Every candidate for the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education has been asked to sign the Pledge to Protect Human-Centered Education. This scorecard tracks each candidate's commitment before the November 3, 2026 election.

The four commitments

Signing means committing the Board of Education to these actions.

01

Three-year moratorium on generative AI

Pause GenAI use in CPS — including the Gemini rollout for high schoolers — and build real policy with public input before anything restarts.

Appoint a Chief Privacy Officer

An executive-level privacy expert reporting to the CEO, responsible for enforcing student data privacy law and answering to families.

03

Limit screen time in all grades

Districtwide, developmentally appropriate device limits — including a ban on 1:1 digital devices before third grade.

04

Prohibit biometric collection

No face scans, fingerprints, or voiceprints, except where required to meet an IEP or 504 plan for a student with a disability.
